Dad Radio brings you the sounds you've been missing from home.
There are five Dad Radio channels for your listening enjoyment!
- Dad Radio 1 - Classical provides music from Abel to Wilms, stopping at Bach, Mozart and Tchaikovsky along the way. All selections are full piece except for operas which are broken out by CD recording. There are a couple orchestral movie soundtracks in here too.
- Dad Radio 2 - Mainstream. Artists/Bands that most people have heard of, mostly from the 80s with a smattering of newer ones mixed in: Boston, Foreigner, Imagine Dragons, The Police, etc. Note it includes more recent albums from mainstream artists that may not be as well known or... good.
- Dad Radio 3 - Underground. Ah, the 80s bands most people haven't heard of: Art of Noise, Love and Rockets, Yello. And some bands 80s college students may know, like from the B-52s, Depeche Mode, and They Might Be Giants. Newer albums from these bands are included here, for better or worse.
- Dad Radio 4 - Electronic. A grab bag of electronic, techno, EDM, whatever you want to call it.
- Dad Radio 5 - Swing and Standards. This has some Big Band music plus the related swing music that had a surge in the 90s, with bands like Squirrel Nut Zippers. It also has, for lack of a better term, standards like from Frank Sinatra or Nat King Cole.
And to clarify, other than Classical which is all Classical, I've grouped these by Artists. So yes, Sting has lately produced some ah... unusual stuff. It still falls into "Mainstream" because Sting himself is a mainstream artist. And yeah, somebody might know one song by Love and Rockets ("So Alive") but the rest of their catalog remains largely unknown to the average listener so they are in Underground. That type of reasoning.
